The Wider Context
The name Ötzi is a nod to Ötzi the Iceman — a prehistoric man found perfectly preserved in the Alps, frozen in time by the very climate that is now changing around us. His discovery was a reminder of how much can be revealed when science meets the right conditions.
Ötzi was preserved by the climate. Our work is to understand how that climate is shifting — and to translate that understanding into intelligence that protects people from what comes next.
The science of climate modelling has never been more powerful. The gap between what global climate models can tell us and what risk managers can actually use has never been more costly. We exist to close that gap.
